My Journey: Why I Had to Leave the NDA

A personal account of the circumstances that led to leaving the National Defence Academy.

I didn't leave the NDA by choice; I had to leave by compulsion. Things were going alright before I experienced a shoulder dislocation (Left, Anterior) during training.

This injury recurred three more times, at intervals of approximately 2-3 months each. I underwent surgery, which successfully corrected the problem.

However, the Army doctors assessed that I wouldn't be able to complete the rigorous training post-surgery. The decision wasn't left to me.

Ultimately, I was boarded out on medical grounds with a 30% disability.
